Effective Treatments for Every Type of Anxiety
How Can I Get Rid of Anxiety? Millions of people are searching for an answer to this very question. If you are one of them, you are in the right place! A certain degree of anxiety and worry is normal and even helpful. Yet, for many people, fearful thoughts and anxieties dominate life. There is no need for this to be that case. You don’t need to live in fear of your anxiety.
Many of my clients are curious which treatment types are most effective for their specific type(s) of anxiety. To answer this question, I pulled together this chart, based on research.
So you can see that, for panic attacks, for example, relaxation techniques, exercise, constructive self-talk, coping techniques, challenging mistaken beliefs, increasing emotional awareness, improving self-worth, medication and focusing on meaning/spirituality have all been shown to have a positive impact.
While, for generalized anxiety disorder, all the same treatments are effective with two exceptions. Coping techniques for panic attacks are not helpful. While learning to be more appropriately assertive does help to turn down the volume on generalized anxiety disorder (or GAD).
